Come on then guys is there a new 4wd or any plans in the pipeline.
The xx4 is getting on now and the xxx4 isnt really up to much.
Over here in the uk about 4 years ago losi dominated the 4wd class with 90 out of 120 4wd cars being losi xx4's running at nationals now there are less than 15.
Could really do with a boost now.

Losi has lots of places to test without others seeing what they are doing. There are always projects going on.

This is what i heard. Hope there is a new 2wd also on the way. IMO losi should of gone with the uk team drivers idea aposed to the CR, of a mid motored xxx.

Another company has recently taken this on and the car is awsome.

I have seen a lot of new things on some teams cars but nothing like that one around here. That picture is new right? I thought I saw that car a while ago. There is always a lot of testing going on.

From my understanding they had been testing the car at tiverton one of the uk's only dirt tracks a week before the picture was taken at a kidderminster national where they where not alloud to run the car they had to run the std BK2. That is why the picture isnt very detailed as knowone was alloud to take pictures of the car so jimmy had to use a big lense.

I hope so .
I have heard rumors from other companies that something is on the way, either way I just hope they continue selling parts for both XX-4 and XXX4
Casper
08-27-2009, 09:49 PM
I would not see XXX-4 parts going away too soon. XX-4 parts are only available due to an agreement with xfactory who use the parts for the X-5 so the XX-4 owners are still benefiting form that.

The X5 is no longer made, does that mean that soon Losi won't be selling parts for the XX4? Hope not, still the best 4WD buggy out there
Casper

xfactory still lists the x-5^2 on there site.
http://www.xfactoryrc.com/rc/x_5.php
To me that means they are still selling them.
I dont' see any of the XX4 parts as being listed as discon so that is always a good sign.

A buggy based off the XX-4 WCE would be sweet. Same suspension just different chassis layout. Alot of racers now with the XX4 run stick pack down the side with the motor and usually have the servo, esc and receiver mounted on the otherside but still require to run weights to even the buggy out. Maybe somehow work out how to even the weight out and work out what to do with the battery slots as stuff all people run nimh now but the slots reduce weight. As long as parts are easy to get for the XX4 there is no-one im getting rid of it
With SCT Racing being as big as what it is would be nice if Losi bought out the Heavy Metal Truck body for the Losi XX-4 and XXX-4

I'm just starting to look into the 4wd electric class, and am wondering why it is that so many people seem to like the xx4 better than the xxx-4? Can someone please explain this?

The XXX-4 G+ is just not as good on rougher tracks as the XX4 WE whilst at the same time reinforcing that the XXX-4 G+ is still a force to be reckoned with on smoother tracks. Losi did a limited re-release for the XX-4 WE for the 05' Worlds and parts are still made for it thanks to XFactory. As long as I can still get parts for the XX4 I will continue running it. With the XX4 you also get an option of running saddle packs or stick pack where as the XXX-4 just uses stick packs
Would be sweet if Losi bought out a shaft drive 4wd buggy and then also re-re-release the XX-4 with a few little refinements which would then give racers the option of belt or shaft
The say there is strength in numbers.... tell all your friends and neighbors, bug them, and you never known, they might re-re it again.

How about a shaft drive XX-4. Basically the XX-4 suspension package with a shaft drive chassis! Not a saddle pack car though. A stick pack shaft car!

No Keep the belts!!!!!!!!
IMO if they are going to re release the xx4 they need to....
Make the sliper pads std where you have a yellow pad each side so you have 50 50 drive front back.
Make it out of EA3
Modify the top belt tunnel to allow for easy belt changes
Improve the front wishbones.
Put the CR rear hubs and wishbones on it
Come with Front LCD's
Steel diff outdrives allround.
And get rid of the cell holes in the chassis but leave the motor one.
Thats my 2 pence.

Ashley please tell me why you like the lcd front shafts, they break on me all the time, i switched to the MIP shafts and havent had a problem since. There just not designed for offroad, the holes for the pins are so close to the end of the barrel they break through. (BRUSHLESS AND BIG JUMPS=BROKEN LCD!!!!)

and it would be awsome if just like the 8ight it could be made buggy or truggy and gas or electric easly and still be highly competitive.

If there is a new 4wd I hope they stick with the belts! I see so many guys with the generic shaft & carbon fiber cars out there stripping gears all the time... I've been on the same belt in my XXX-4 for the last year and a half of racing.. no problems.. only had to tighten the tensioner twice in that period of time. Same gears too... hard to beat that.. now the XX-4 wear the belts out pretty quick... nothing to much can be done about that.. 3 belts and no tensioner. The belts driven cars seem to have a nice smooth acceleration compared to the shaft cars.
I also agree too that the time is over for the battery holes in the chassis.. maybe 1 out of 40 racers use NiMh cells these days.. all the holes do is let dirt in.
Actually all I think needs to be done to make the XXX-4 handle better on rough tracks would be to adjust the geometry a little.. allow for some more down travel.. new shock towers.. new shock lengths.. and new driveshafts to allow for the increased down travel..
We'll see...

4wd micro!
IM TELLING YOU!!!!!!!!!!
it will be a hit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A little beefier xx4 would be cool. the motor mounted in the centre of the car is genious, it makes the car jump level. The xxx4 is fast but i think the xx4 will out perform the xxx4 on most tracks.

There are 3 reason's why the xx4 rocks
1. The best thing is the motor position, for me it is the main reason why the car is so good. So many people have copied the suspension set up but placed the motor in a different position and it is not as good
2. Diff size, xx4 has the smallest. This makes it really good overthe bumps. if the XXX4 diffs where alot smaller it would be much better!!!
3. Slipper, the xx4 one is still one of the best and easiest to adjust
What ever a new 4wd could or would look like if it has the three above features it will be good!
Rumors going around that there was a new 4wd at so cal (off rctech)

if they keep ball diff i'd like to keep the belt, but i hope losi will follow team durango, mini revo and desert truck. satellite are easy to set, strong and reliable. The minus on the b44 is the shaft and diff, I'l be happy if the drive train can take some power. If they can put someting as strong as mip cvd, it would be great.
but please no hole under the car....and stick pack please

i'm all for a new 4wd
but not to replace the existing, i just got my xxx-4 g+ and i choose that on for several reasons that no other buggy offers.
if they come out with a new 4wd i think it should be a truggy or short course truck.

I've just swapped over to the XXX4g+ And it seems ok to me apart from
the LCD front drive shafts.I think both the 4wd cars are good and just
need updating for brushless and lipo.Does anyone know of any good
pictures of Mike Truhes car and other top Losi drivers.
