I have a problem. Last month I have bought a second hand losi xxxt mf2. I have put an brushless set in it and then I broke my idler gear. So I thought well then I will order a steel idler gear and alu. diff from www.myatomic.com. Those were:

9402 Speed t / xxxt idler gear hardened steel
9400 losi xxxt diff gear hardened aluminium

Only I've got a problem the Alu. diff is to big (it should have been 25 mm. in stead it is 28mm)
And the idler gear is to small... (it should have been around 18mm in stead the steel one i ordered is 15,4mm)

So I have ordered for 23$ the wrong gears. Please, help me and tell me what diff (complete!) and what idler gear I need. So I won't order the wrong stuff again, it is a waste of money and time.... I would like them to be steel/alu.

So the diff has to be 25mm and the idler gear 18mm.

And does the xxxt has a different gearbox as the xxxt mf2? Where did I go wrong....

On the foto's you can see that the diff also is wrecked, I think it was to tight?????

Please help me out here

I suspect you made the mistake of getting the diff for the "Gen I" 2.43:1 tranny -- the MF2 uses a completely different transmission with a 2.56:1 internal ratio...

That information may help a bit in your search... I have no idea why you feel you need aluminum or steel gears -- I ran an MF2 for years, racing both stock and mod classes and never had a problem. I suspect it may simple be a case of neglect by the previous owner (running the tranny without lube on the gears, etc. causing excessive wear?)...

I would honestly suggest rebuilding with stock LOSI parts, and then lubing the gears with something like Green Slime to minimize or eliminate wear...

PS: from looking at your diff in the picture, it has beel allowed to slip -- something that should NEVER be allowed to happen. Always make sure the slipper slips before the diff ever does -- that is what the slipper is there for...

I am not sure anyone made the alum/steel gears for the Gen II tranny. I agree with Tom in that they are not needed. You can run some pretty hot mods with these cars and the tranny holds up just fine. Just make sure the slipper can give some and you will be good. The diff was set too loose and was allowed to slip. The melted center is a result of the diff slipping a bunch and got so hot it melted the diff gear. If you have the slipper set to give before the diff this will never happen so it is not a flaw in the plastic gear but more a flaw in the setup of the tranny by the user. I would stick with the stock gears. They are plenty strong and MUCH CHEAPER! I little bit of clear grease on the gears will help them last longer. For some reason the GEN II idler is a little more prone to giving out but they should last a good 6 months of good racing without failure and even then it is not always going to happen.

both guys are 100% correct no need for aluminum gears & it was set to loose. I ran my MF2 tranny from the day it was new when they very First came out till about 3 or 4 months ago with the same idler gear in the tranny. I just had to service the diff it's self & I always used plenty of good quality grease in it maybe at times I got a little carried away with to much but I never had any tranny problems. I think I only put 1 diff gear in it just as a precaution & of course several sets of diff rings. the only problem I did have was broke a t plate & a couple inner pivots & a tranny case there at the end but that was due to a very big jump we had on our track. you've got a good truck in the MF2 all they usually need is just maintance.
