Is there any chance of sticking a 2.4 GHz radio on the micro (NOT 1/24 Crawler) class vehicles? Does anyone know if you'll be able to slap a 2.4GHz radio from that 1/24 crawler on any of the other micro vehicles? I'm ready to use my DX3S for everything :)

I agree. It makes perfect sense. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it with existing hardware (I realize that the 1/24th scale crawler isn't out yet, so that hasn't been tried).
Well, I think all the micros have a combo esc/receiver unit.
So, if that's the case you would have to install a new esc as well as your 2.4 receiver.

the micro rc has the receiver/esc combo, something like the mini-t had.. but it does use a 3 wire servo. so if the micro receiver/esc does fit (im sure it will no problem) than you will also have to swap you stock servo out to a new one that runs a 3 wire setup.
I don't think I understood the questions the first time around.
So, I just went and looked at the pics of the new crawler.
It does have an esc/receiver combo, and the 3 wire servo,
so yes, you should be able to use the electronics from the crawler in the other micros.

In the video they show you how to install the new receiver and the 3-wire servo, but the truck they're running at the end has a Spektrum SR3500 micro receiver and they're controlling it with a Spektrum DX3S controller. You can get the controller for $150 on ebay, and the receiver is about $100. When I'm not broke, I'll get one for my Micro Highroller.

why not just get the 2.4 from the micro rock crawler, switch to a 3 wire servo and than u got all that for cheaper.. ive been seein the esc/receiver for the mrc sell pretty cheap, u can look on ebay and buy the losi transmitter for cheap to..
I'll check it out--thanks.

so, did you try this yet? not sure if the micro esc/rec. has a drag brake or not, the worm gear should do most, if not all the braking. Thinking I can use this when/if I upgrade to lipo on my micro rock crawler.
I ended up getting the Spektrum DX3S and the SR3500 micro receiver for $160 total on ebay, and the combo makes all the difference on range and even handling. The fine-tuning that's possible with the transmitter makes the truck much easier to drive at the speeds possible with the brushless combo. I wouldn't recommend switching to brushless with the crawler. The brushless system has very little low-end torque, and virtually no torque at 0 rpm. The lipo combined with the stock motor, on the other hand, has loads of low-end torque--perfect for crawling.
