I'm sure the info I seek is on this site somewhere already, but I've looked for a half hour and haven't found it, so I'm just gonna see if anyone replies to this.
I just bought my first gas powered RC truck. I love it. It is everything I hoped it would be. I'm quickly learning about the do's and dont's. But, I went to play today after work and when I plugged in my fully charged battery (on the truck) I got none of the normal noises, no green light up in that little box in the front, and no controls worked from the remote. It is like the battery was not charged at all. Could there be another problem?
I did get it wet (puddles were fun) the other day, but I cleaned it and dried it off right after. And I did fire it up this morning with no problems, so I doubt the puddles did much damage.
And what the **** is with the random revving by itself nonsense? Sometimes when I go to start it (usually after a stall out) it revs up really really high, and I have to pull a gas line to turn the thing off. That is actually the last thing that happened before I got the no green light syndrome.
Thank you in advance for any help that comes my way

So I fixed the problem with the electronics. There is a little covered up switch on the side of that electronic box on the front end of the truck, it must have been bumped into the off position. I wonder if I should be using that switch on a daily basis?

You should always be using the switch for safety reasons, ans if you are out bashing around you can just use the switch, But ALWAYS unplug the battery when you are done for the day. The over revving when you first start up sounds like the bottom end is way too rich, so the high idle is the engine in the ideal stage ans the idle screw is is open too far. The engine overloads with fuel in the case. Try reading this article to get you needle set right and more run times and more power and more fun.

Yeah, that is an awesome article. It seems to be something every rc owner should read. Seems a bit confusing, but it must be learned. I bought this thing used, no owners manual or anything, so I'm learning what I need to know as I go. I believe this article combined with my previous question about the electronics should keep me afloat for at least another few days, lol.
Thanks for the article!

any manual you need from losi can be found on their web site if needed

So I got it all adjusted up. It sounds great at idle, it runs smoother, it seems quicker. I think we got those needles set about right.
Now we have a new problem, as of about ten minutes ago. I thought maybe a rock got up in the drivetrain somewhere, because it stayed running, but it stopped moving when I would gas it up enough to go. So, I shut it off, took a look, no rocks or other obstructions. I also noticed that when I roll it around on the ground, with it not running, it makes a clunking sound and wants to stop rolling, where it used to roll freely. I don't know if a transmission would **** out that easily or what. The noise sounds like it is coming from behind one of those gears off on the side of the truck.
If this was my car, regular car, and it did this I would think it was the clutch first of all. I am not quite sure what I'm comparing to though fully. I'm going to be googling all kinds of things tomorrow all day trying to figure out what the problem is so I can fix it. I just wanted to throw this up here in hopes that answers might come my way tonight or throughout the day tomorrow.
Thanks again!!

possible that one of the clutch springs or shoes broke. or inside the center tranny, tear it apart

So, I tore this whole thing apart. The engine came off, the gas tank, the gears on the side. The clunking was coming from the gears on the side to begin with. Long story short, there were little chunks of rock and dirt worked up into the gears that are over on the side of the truck. I cleaned them off, put it all back together, it ran in tip top shape for about fifteen minutes. It stalled out on me, and when I went to start it, it would not start. And on top of that, I get that grinding sound again. I wasn't in the rocks this time, so I doubt it is the same thing. I'm confused now. Also, another fun fact, when I took the pull cord part off the spring came flying out at me. I gave up on trying to coil that thing back up in there, I put it back together without the spring, drill start it is for awhile. I hope that doesn't create some other unforeseen problems.
Is that the clutch that is behind the front gears? It looks similar to the clutches on a bike, so I assume it is.
And also, is the transmission attached to the engine, between the glow plug and the carb? Or is it that long black box that sits behind the front gear?

Losi has a clear shield that is made for this truck so rocks and stuff doesnt get in the gears along with the plastic one that is on there. Behind the High and Low speed spur gears, the black and white pads are the slipper clutch, which is connected to the center diff, on this particular car there is no reverse, but you could buy the parts and put them in to make it have reverse(rather Not). There are also clutch springs and shoes inside the clutch bell that engage when the engine gets to a certain RPM. There are front and rear diffs also, that have spider gears, just like a full size truck, those are in a sealed plastic case inside the silver cases in between the wheels, you can put different viscosity oil in there for tuning. basic for this truck is 3k front and rear
